Spiritually All Wet

We were performing our morning purification ritual in someone else's chamber of ease when our eyes were Opened. There before us, on a vessel containing an elixir of presumed cosmetic improvement, were the amazingly enlightening words:

MOISTURIZING HYDRATION

At first we were Much Irritated. Wasn't this yet another example of bad marketing's infamously pleonastic perseveration? Please, don't you moisturize when you hydrate? Don't you hydrate when you moisturize? Saying moisturizing hydration makes about as much sense, we opined to ourselves with a loud harrumph, as desiccating hydration.

And then it hit us.


With regard to Matters of the Soul - yes, Virginia, there IS such a thing as Spiritually Desiccating Hydration. Just as there is Spiritually Moisturizing Hydration. We see examples of this all around us every day.

Far too many people - and in particular people in our line of work: the professional godbotherers, you know - far too many of them spiritually hydrate like mad, but end up spiritually desiccating themselves and everyone around them.

And so we say: hydrate, yes, but please, for the sake of your soul, verify that your hydrating is actually moisturing.
